TelCo Transformation: A Visual Journey

As a key member of an in-house creative team I was tasked with a significant project for a major player in the telecommunications industry. The Telco was gearing up for a pivotal presentation to secure buy-in from the presidents representing Big Telco European markets, focusing on enhancing customer service at their support centres for specific customer services. They had a strong preference for data-driven evidence and concrete proof. My role was to ensure the development of effective collateral to support this objective, combining storytelling and data. The challenge lay in creating a large format infographic that transported and displayed in the meeting room for the pitch, and afterwards in the company lobby, compellingly conveying the data-driven narrative.
The research and dataset
I began by collaborating with the team I was supporting to establish an effective flow of information and storytelling. This initial step resulted in a draft that provided insights into how the collateral would be used in the final pitch. The information and data, delivered in spreadsheets and presentations, needed to be transformed into a more digestible format. Below are the examples in how the data was captured and delivered to me in slide format.
Bringing it to life
To facilitate easy understanding, I opted for a horizontal communication approach, making it easily rolled transportable and suitable for placement on the meeting room wall. Additionally, as the meeting room was being used by a fixed team, the infographics served a dual purpose by establishing project milestones and checklists.
I worked with one team member to create illustrations on the right-hand side. I utilised MS Excel for data treatment and adjustments, and Adobe Illustrator to bring together the final piece.
The project took a few days to complete, and the final output was a comprehensive and visually engaging presentation. The use of a horizontal layout made it accessible and easy to follow, and the headers at the top allowed each section to be read independently. This approach was well-received and supported the Telco team in their final pitch presentation.
