Music Video: German Expressionism meets Brazilian poetry and stop motion!
This music video encapsulates the culmination of my journey through Graphic Design, serving as my graduation thesis. Delving deep into the captivating realms of German Expressionism aesthetics, I sought to channel the profound essence of a melancholic narrative. The hauntingly emotive song serves as the sonic backdrop for a character navigating the abyss of despair and the haunting void of hopelessness.
Set against a haunting melody, our protagonist navigates the shadowy corridors of despair, grappling with the weight of their own existence. Inspired by the profound melancholy of German Expressionism, I sought to infuse every frame with a palpable sense of longing and introspection.
Drawing from the timeless verses of Alphonsus Guimarães' 'Ismália,' we delve deeper into the psyche of our character, unravelling the delicate threads of their unraveling sanity. Like Ismália, they too are consumed by the ethereal beauty of the moon, lost in a trance of desperation and longing.
In this production, I wore many hats, serving as the mastermind behind every aspect of the creative process. From crafting the evocative set to meticulously designing costumes and makeup, every detail was a labour of love. Behind the lens, I orchestrated a delicate dance of light and shadow, capturing the essence of each fleeting moment.
Embracing the spirit of experimentation, I employed a mix of stop motion and reverse scenes, infusing the narrative with a sense of dynamism and intrigue. Each frame is a canvas, painted with the brushstrokes of emotion and imagination.
